This is one of the most amazing and most unique zoos in the world – it ranks 4th in the official global rankings and you can easily get to it from our hotel Kampagarden in the centre of Prague by public transport (approx. 40 minutes). Its huge size spreading out over approx. 58 hectares, the variety of species and structure of the terrain allow everyone to enjoy a wonderful experience over the course of at least half a day – although we recommend you stay longer if you decide to visit the Botanical Gardens with its ‘Fata Morgana’ greenhouse which is located approx. 300 m from the zoo. The lower and upper parts of Prague Zoo are linked by a chairlift (a special ticket must be purchased to use this) and also footpaths offering a magical view of Prague Castle and Petřín as well as the River Vltava with its historical bridges. It is certainly worth taking a look at the beautiful elephant paddock, the hippo pavilion, the gorilla pavilion, the Chinese giant salamanders or the penguins and the Indonesian jungle. The paddocks are new and modern facilities allowing visitors undisturbed contact and ensuring the comfort of the animals. A special part of the zoo devoted to children has been conceived as a small farm-style petting zoo. The zoo is open all year round and to get the most from the experience, we recommend you visit on a sunny weekday from spring until autumn. Some of the exhibitions, especially the outside ones, may operate in a limited scope during the winter. More information is available on the official zoo website www.zoopraha.cz.
